Whether you’re a passionate member of the AirLyft community or a dedicated campaign host, chances are you’ve come across the occasional hiccup when users struggle to connect certain social accounts or encounter difficulties logging into their profiles. You might be all too familiar with the dreaded message that reads: “This account is linked to another user. Please login via XYZ to use this account.”
We’ve heard you, and we’ve been working tirelessly to put this issue behind us.
TLDR
In a nutshell, if you’re short on time, here’s the scoop: AirLyft’s latest enhancement is here to wave goodbye to these problems, ensuring both current and future users can enjoy a seamless experience. Yes, you heard that right — now you can use any connected account to log in, and it will seamlessly direct you to your intended user profile.
The Longer Print
Now, let’s delve a bit deeper into the backstory. If you’re not keen on the technical details, feel free to give our blog a thumbs-up and head over to AirLyft for more excitement. But if you’re ready to understand the “why” of the matter, join us for a ride.
Up until now, each AirLyft user had a designated “primary” method for logging in. This primary method was the one they initially used to create their account, and subsequently, they were locked into using this method every time they logged in. Imagine if they first logged in through their Metamask wallet, completed tasks on Twitter, and engaged in activities on Discord — they were bound to always use their Metamask wallet for future logins. This left their Twitter and Discord connections in a “non-primary” state, forever linked to the Metamask user.
To tackle this challenge head-on, we’ve given our authentication system a makeover. Say goodbye to the era of being tethered to a single login method! With our latest enhancement, users now have the freedom to choose any connected account for logging in. Whether it’s through the Metamask wallet, Twitter, or Email, you’ll be swiftly directed to your intended user account, waving farewell to the frustration of linked accounts.
In case you loose access to a specific wallet address, you will still be able to login to the account using any of the other connected wallets, twitter handles or email addresses.
But that’s not all, you can even move connected social accounts from one user to another as long as you can prove ownership — but beware you can only verify a quest once per connected social.
We strive to make your Web3 journey easy, exciting & rewarding!
Love,
The AirLyft Team.
